It's a big day, my friends - we have moved back into the living room after 2.5 months of dust and debris, and this is my 50th blog post. To celebrate, I'm going to show you just how triumphant - victorious, even - this accomplishment is to us. Yes folks, it's time to hop in the Wayback Machine and head back to the early '80s to check out some WAY before pictures from the living room. Fittingly, many of our way befores from the living room feature Yuletide festivities.
As if Pound Puppies weren't enough of a Christmas treat, there were also puppies on the walls! The fact that this poster once hung on this wall was one of the top 100 reasons we tore it down. Also, when we moved in, that couch was in the room that is now my office. It was a sleeper and probably one of the heaviest things I've ever had the displeasure of carrying down a set of narrow stairs. Thankfully I haven't seen any of those afghans around. For the record, although it is not as large as either of the ones shown, Gabe still has a Pound Puppy. That's his hand on the chair in the lower right.
Beige and lace. Need I say more? I believe this is the earliest of the set, Oct 1982 according to the back. That's Betty and Perk, Gabe's grandparents, on the right.
Washed out Nina.
And of course, a WAY before post wouldn't be complete without a hilarious picture of Gabe. What do you do with your bows when they're done decorating your presents? Stick them to your face, of course. While posing with your new moose figurine.
We still have that lamp (rewiring it is on the project list - it is brass with a nice marble base), and I can identify at least a couple of ornaments that we still have/Gabe will never let me throw away. I'm considering a post dedicated exclusively to the ornaments made by Gabe in grades 1-5. Doesn't the Santa hanging from the lamp look like he has to pee?
Stay tuned for the afters....
